In March, Dr. Chen Si attended an inspiring presentation on the general process of Lithography-based Ceramics Manufacturing (LCM) technology, delivered by Dr.-Ing. Serkan Nohut. During the presentation, Dr. Nohut detailed the 3D-printing procedure, used in Lithoz GmbH's equipment, including the mechanism, by which the printing platform interacts and separates the slurry from the vat. He also discussed various slurry parameters and their influence on the printing process.
In April, under the support of Dr.-Ing. Serkan Nohut, Dr. Si Chen prepared a slurry containing both, a borate-based bioactive glass and mesoporous silicate-based bioactive glass nanoparticles. The outcome was successfully printed scaffolds with a gyroid structure. By gradually increasing the number of nanoparticles, the final slurry achieved a nanoparticle concentration of up to one-third of the volume of the borate glass.
The goal of preparing a printable slurry containing comparable proportions of micron- and nano-sized raw materials was successfully accomplished!
