ERA Talents from FunGlass Forge International Connections at Business Forum with Honorary Consuls

Bratislava, Slovakia – On June 5, 2025, ERA Talents from the FunGlass Centre at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín participated in the Business Forum with Honorary Consuls of the Slovak Republic. This significant event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), provided a unique platform for Slovak entities to expand their international reach.

The forum brought together over 120 honorary consuls from nearly 80 countries worldwide. These consuls, who are often influential business leaders and prominent figures in their respective countries, offer invaluable insights and connections for entering new foreign markets. The event facilitated individual consultations, allowing participants to gain specific market knowledge and forge personal contacts crucial for successful international ventures.

FunGlass was represented by a strong delegation comprising Dr. Zulema Vargas Osorio (Researcher, Department of Glass Processing), Dr. Germán A. Clavijo Mejía (Researcher, Biomaterials Department), and MBA. Monika Šandrejová (Project and Financial Manager). Their participation focused on showcasing the cutting-edge research and educational opportunities available at the FunGlass Centre.

During their discussions with the honorary consuls, the FunGlass representatives highlighted:

  • Doctoral Study Program: They presented the unique PhD program in Inorganic Technology and Non-metallic Materials, emphasizing the opportunity for students to gain deep knowledge in new inorganic materials, including glass, ceramics, and biomaterials. The program offers invaluable benefits such as up to one-year internships with international partners in Germany, Italy, or Spain, individual training plans, scholarships, access to high-end laboratories and equipment, and a vibrant scientific community.
  • Industrial Research Collaboration: FunGlass showcased its capabilities in industrial-based research, offering services tailored to the needs of glass production and technology. They detailed their expertise in analyses such as DSC, TGA, SEM, and measurements of mechanical and physical properties of glasses.

Postdoctoral Positions: They also promoted opportunities for talented researchers through postdoc positions, leveraging funding schemes like MSCA.

The participation of FunGlass ERA Talents at this forum underscores their commitment to fostering international collaboration, attracting global talent, and driving innovation in glass science and technology on a worldwide scale.
