From June 30 to July 2, 2025, the CLiCAM Innovation Leadership Programme brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators at the FunGlass Centre in Trenčín for an intensive, hands-on workshop focused on Business Plan Preparation, Strategic Decision-Making, and Entrepreneurial Spirit.
Over three days, participants engaged in lectures, simulations, and practical exercises that bridged the gap between scientific research and commercial innovation. The programme provided foundational tools for launching and leading technology-driven ventures in competitive global markets.
Programme Overview
Led by Dr. Johan Winbladh, a seasoned expert in finance and strategy from the Vysoká škola manažmentu / City University of Seattle in Bratislava, the programme featured a blend of theoretical learning and practical simulation through the CAPSIM Capstone 2.0 platform.
🗓️ Day 1: Strategy and Simulation Setup
Module 1: Integrating Strategy and Simulation
Participants were welcomed with a session on organizational strategy, emphasizing its role in research commercialization. Through group case studies and interactive exercises, they learned how to outline compelling business plans for technology ventures.
The day concluded with an introduction to CAPSIM, forming teams, and preparing for the simulation challenge ahead.
🗓️ Day 2: Planning, Positioning, and Financial Decisions
Module 2: Analysis and Planning
The morning focused on defining vision, mission, and SMART goals for startup ventures. Through SWOT analysis and strategic positioning exercises, participants aligned their business plans with real-world market dynamics.
Module 3: Simulation Rounds 2–3, Financial Planning & Decision-Making
The afternoon saw participants dive into Rounds 2 and 3 of the CAPSIM simulation, applying strategic decisions across departments. Topics included startup financial planning, basic company valuation, and multifunctional decision-making.
The day closed with a reflective session on CAPSIM results and a networking dinner at La Piazzetta.

Module 4: Advanced Application and Entrepreneurial Pathways
On the final day, teams engaged in CAPSIM Rounds 4–5, implementing lessons in valuation and long-term planning.
