Advancing Coating Technologies: highlights from the Plasma Simulation Workshop at Fraunhofer IST

CLiCAM ERA TalentDr. Rajesh Mundotia recently participated in the specialized industrial workshop, "Plasma Process Simulation Tools for Industrial Coating and Etching Systems - Latest Developments and Future Trends," held at Fraunhofer IST in Braunschweig, Germany on 28 - 29 January 2026. The two-day event, jointly organized by Fraunhofer IST, Boltzplatz, and PlasmaSolve, provided a deep dive into the evolving landscape of plasma simulation.

Technical Synergy and Innovation

This specialized program offered Live demonstrations and in-depth technical insights into process Simulations Tools for Industrial Coating and Etching Systems operations. Throughout the Workshop, Dr. Mundotia focused on exploring how these advanced tools can be integrated to achieve plasma uniformity, uniform gas distribution and precise stoichiometry within the research facilities at FunGlass - specifically for the pilot line equipped with PVD and PECVD technology. Furthermore, the event served as a unique platform for high-level dialogue and networking with industry leaders.

We would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Dennis Barton, Dipl.-Phys. Holger Gerdes and the entire team for organizing this valuable workshop. These advanced trainings strengthen Dr. Rajesh Mundotia's and every other CLiCAM ERA Talent’s expertise in thin-film deposition technologies and driving progress towards the next generation of advanced manufacturing.
