Do you want to test or develop a material? Produce the material or coating? Analyse a component failure? Develop or validate a manufacturing or material testing technology, but lack the necessary proper expertise or equipment?
CLiCAM Virtual Test Beds connect the industry with experts and advanced research infrastructure across four European research institutions.
We help you find the right expertise, technologies, equipment, and research capabilities to address your specific technical or research challenge. Our activities focus primarily on research, development, and experimental validation up to TRL 4-5.
Tell us about your technical or research challenge, and we will help you identify the most suitable experts and capabilities within the CLiCAM Virtual Test Beds network.
Discover what the CLiCAM Virtual Test Beds can offer through our online catalogue.
Explore selected case studies and examples of research capabilities in advanced materials, coatings, surface engineering, additive manufacturing, materials characterisation, testing, failure analysis, and technology development.
The catalogue provides practical examples of how the expertise, technologies, and research infrastructure available across the CLiCAM network can be used to address specific industrial and research challenges.
CLiCAM Virtual Test Beds bring together interconnected research expertise, capabilities, and infrastructure, providing companies and other industrial or academic partners with access to state-of-the-art expertise and the equipment of the participating institutions.
The aim is to create an interdisciplinary research infrastructure accessible that would otherwise be difficult for individual partners to access, thereby simplifying the process of researching, developing, testing, and/or validating new technologies.
Virtual Test Beds are not simply a catalogue of individual research equipment.
The key advantage of CLiCAM Virtual Test Beds is their ability to connect experts, infrastructure, and know-how across institutions to build the right research approach for your specific materials or technology challenge.
CLiCAM Virtual Test Beds are organised into two main areas:
01 - Materials and Coatings
Advanced capabilities for the development, processing, surface engineering, coating, characterisation, testing, and failure analysis of materials and components.
Explore capabilities including:
02 - Materials Preparation and Additive Manufacturing
Capabilities covering the preparation, processing, manufacturing, and characterisation of advanced materials and additively manufactured components.
Explore capabilities including:

01 - Describe your problem
Tell us what you need to help develop, test, analyse, or validate.
You do not need to identify a specific piece of equipment or research method. Start by describing your technical or research challenge.
02 - We find the right capabilities
We match your requirements with the relevant experts, technologies, equipment, and research capabilities available within the CLiCAM network.
Where appropriate, capabilities from multiple institutions can be combined to address your challenge.
03 - We define the solution and begin our collaboration
Together, we clarify the scope, possibilities and relevant infrastructure to get the solution you need.
CLiCAM Virtual Test Beds are built on the long-term collaboration of four European research institutions in Slovakia, Czechia, and Poland.
FunGlass
Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia
Expertise in glass and advanced materials, material development, processing, characterisation, and related technologies.
CEITEC
Brno University of Technology, Czechia
Advanced research infrastructure and expertise in materials research, characterisation, manufacturing, plasma technologies, additive manufacturing and related industrial applications.
Institute of Plasma Physics
Czech Academy of Sciences, Czechia
Specialised expertise and infrastructure in plasma technologies, surface engineering, coatings, and advanced material processing.
Wroclaw University of Science and Technology
Poland
Research expertise and infrastructure covering advanced materials, manufacturing technologies, characterisation, and related industrial applications.
Together, the four institutions provide access to a broader and more interconnected research infrastructure than any single institution could offer on its own.
Access infrastructure without owning it.
Modern research equipment can require significant investment. Virtual Test Beds environment enable companies to access existing research infrastructure through interdisciplinary research team expertise without having to build and maintain their own facilities.
Work with the right experts.
Equipment is only part of the solution. The expertise and experience of those operating it are equally important. Virtual Test Beds connect you with experts who help to identify the right approach to your specific challenge.
Combine research capabilities across institutions.
Complex technological challenges often require multiple methods, technologies, or pieces of equipment. Virtual Test Beds enable companies to combine research capabilities and know-how across different institutions.
Accelerate development and innovation.
Access to modern research infrastructure can help companies test and validate new materials, technologies, and solutions more quickly, thereby shortening development times and fostering innovation.
